The process of C2 inherently requires situational awareness, enemy’s intents, friendly plans and the environment. Intoday’s complex, chaotic and dynamic battlefields,this awareness should be exchanged through communication networks and converted to knowledge by computer processing and finally it shouldacceleratedecision-making process of commanders by decision support software and systems.In fact, smart C2 seeks to convert the advantage of information to combat and implementation privilege; and this lays the ground for smart C2 in knowledge-based defense.
This study tries to define the role of smart C2 in knowledge-based defense by use of descriptive-analytic method. Accordingly, the statistical population of the present study are experts and military and academic elites on C2 domain. Random Stratified Sampling and Cochran Formula have been used to select a statistical sample and the sample sizerespectively. Assessment device has been a questionnaire consisting of 20 questions designed by researcher. The questionnaire have been verified by elites and then distributed among the population. It is found that the aspects and components of C2 have been very effective in knowledge-based defense.
