The important position of Iran in the world and the West Asia region, with an emphasis on the sensitive Persian Gulf region, has led Iran to face a number of threats. Defense policy is also for the use of national power elements in order to eliminate internal and external threats and to deal with natural unpredictable incidents. Given the strategic importance of the Persian Gulf region, it is imperative that the factors involved in defining the Islamic Republic of Iran's defense policy in the Persian Gulf region are examined and their impact assessed.
This research is a descriptive-analytical study with the aim of investigating the factors of the defense policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Gulf region and the question of "factors influencing the formulation of the defense policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran with emphasis on the Gulf region."
The statistical population consisted of 330 people and the sample size was obtained using the Cochran formula in 169 individuals. The data were collected through two questionnaires using descriptive and inferential statistics and SPSS software. And 82 factors influencing the defense policy of the I.R.I have been identified and their effect is determined by the Likert spectrum determined by the mean effective magnitude and their standard deviation is zero. Based on the results, the component of the armed forces as the sole factor behind the defense policy has the most effect on the development of the defense policy of the I.R.I. And then, the coercive factors for defensive, power and defense strategies and enhancement of the objectives of defense policy have a significant impact on defining the defense policy of the GPA, with emphasis on the Gulf region.
