Maritime security has emerged in the twenty-first century as a fundamental pillar of national power and military deterrence. The growing strategic importance of critical sea lanes, energy resources, and maritime lines of communication has made the enhancement of naval defense combat capability an essential strategic imperative. As a country occupying a pivotal geopolitical position in the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, the Islamic Republic of Iran faces a wide spectrum of conventional and asymmetric maritime threats. Under such circumstances, identifying and strengthening the factors that enhance naval combat capability is crucial for safeguarding national security and protecting the country's vital interests. Accordingly, this study aims to identify the factors that enhance naval defense combat capability in response to future maritime threats. The research is applied-developmental in nature and employs a case study approach. Data collected through documentary research were analyzed using qualitative content analysis. Based on the results of this analysis, a questionnaire was developed and administered to the study population. The collected quantitative data were subsequently analyzed using SmartPLS software. The findings indicate that the factors contributing to the enhancement of naval defense combat capability in the face of future maritime threats comprise three principal dimensions: tangible capability factors, encompassing 32 sub-components; intangible capability factors, comprising 13 sub-components; and force-multiplying factors, consisting of 13 sub-components.
