Over nearly five decades since the victory of the Islamic Revolution, adversarial actors have sought through various means to create challenges for the Islamic Republic of Iran and, when conditions permit, undermine its foundations. The utilization of Islamic capacities embodied in the framework of Major Jihad provides an effective mechanism for confronting and neutralizing such threats. As a comprehensive struggle conducted against hostile actors across multiple arenas, Major Jihad can achieve practical and tangible realization only when its principles are clearly articulated and understood by the principal stakeholders of the Revolution. In this regard, the warnings and guidance of Imam Khamenei concerning Major Jihad require serious scholarly examination. Accordingly, the primary objective of this study is to investigate Imam Khamenei's views regarding the realization of Major Jihad from a pragmatic perspective. The research employs a mixed-methods design combining thematic analysis and survey methodology. The study was conducted in two stages. The first stage examined the corpus of speeches, messages, directives, and guidance issued by Imam Khamenei, while the second stage involved experts and researchers specializing in the study of his thought. In the initial stage, major themes were identified through thematic analysis; in the subsequent stage, these themes were validated by experts. Non-reactive measures and structured questionnaires were used as the primary data collection instruments. The analysis resulted in the identification and expert validation of five overarching themes and thirteen organizing themes. The findings indicate that, within the Leader's guidance concerning the realization of Major Jihad, emphasis is placed on several key dimensions: principles and foundations (theoretical and practical bases), conditions for realization, actors (general and specific actors), arenas of action (functional and structural dimensions), and outcomes, including individual consequences, preservation of the Islamic system, progress and development, God-centeredness, and the establishment of security.
