The Regionalism Process and its Implications for Strengthening the Regime’s Internal Structure

Abstract

The strength of the regime’s internal structure is formed by interacting with its strategic environment. The Islamic Republic of Iran with its structural values and ideals can enjoy an established structure when it becomes an active player inside the defined regional and international rules and principles and continues to be so.
The present research aims at defining how regionalism process, as one of the political factors of national power, affects the strength of the internal structure of the Guardianship system of the Islamic Republic of Iran. This is an applied, descriptive and analyticsurvey with mixed approach.
The research hypothesis is as follows: it seems that Iran’s regionalism process strengthens the regime’s internal structure by considering four factors of converging Islamic societies, rebirth of the Islamic world’s identity, securing national interests and fighting Shia-phobia project. The statistical population of the present research included 100 graduated students of the academic orientations of international affairs and political science on Tehran universities, from which 32 participants were chosen as the sample using Cochran formula. The findings of the paper suggest the Islamic Republic of Iran should play an active role in its political regional formulas and foreign policy in order to prevent what happens in neighboring countries affect its stabilized structure and national interests and critical values. Also, regionalism process is an undeniable factor in increasing national power and strengthening the regimes internal structure.
